Biography

Val joined Bread Financial in June 2020 as the Chief Commercial Officer of Bread Financial Card Services. She brings extensive knowledge and leadership experience to her role where she is responsible for the growth and strategy of the Card Services business through product and capability development, enhanced customer experience, and the attraction and retention of merchants, customers, brand partners and credit customers.

Before joining Bread Financial, Val led the US cards co-brand business at Citigroup, and previously served as the general manager of partnerships for JPMorgan Chase. She also held several senior leadership positions with increasing responsibility at HSBC, including as the executive director of HSBC’s private label credit card business.

In the community, Val is passionate about empowering women and girls. She is a director of Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX) where she serves as a member of the Development Committee. Val is a supporter of Plan International and is a mentor at the Serviam Girls Academy. Val holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Manitoba and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Outside of the office, she enjoys skiing and spending time with her husband and their two sons.
